The passage and its setting
Psalm 4 proceeds from distress and a plea for help to trust, joy and peaceful sleep. Its complete earlier petition remains in the reading. The Babylonian river scene is a listening illustration; no claim is made that Psalm 4 was composed in Babylon or on this terrace.
Psalm 4:1–8 · World English Bible, American English Protestant edition. The complete selected passage repeats 47 times, in order. Complete words appear slowly in order, with scenery between cards. There is no spoken narration.
Sound and movement
Existing newer and older instrumental recordings from The Ancient Table’s music library, arranged for this listening film. These are modern compositions created with Suno, inspired by the ancient world.
The scene and movement are human-directed AI-created artistic reconstruction. Cultural context draws on the NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible; the passage, source notes and scenic illustration remain distinct. Charlie is our recurring sleeping companion.
